Grounds For Health Auction Lots

Four Barrel is very excited to announce the three special Grounds for Health auction coffees are now available for the holiday season!

Finca Kilimanjaro

Finca Los Alpes

Finca Mauritania Finca Mauritania

These three special coffees from El Salvador were donated by Aida Battle to the inaugural Grounds For Health auction, and were the top auction lots. Overall, the auction raised close to $100, 000, all of which goes directly to support GFH’s cervical cancer prevention programs in Mexico, Nicaragua, and Tanzania.

Not only do these coffees directly support Grounds for Health’s cervical cancer prevention programs in coffee producing communities, but it is also the first time that coffees from all three of Aida Battle’s farms are available together!

Aida Battle is a well-known and innovative micro-lot pioneer, who first turned heads by placing first in the 2003 El Salvador Cup of Excellence. Her three small farms on the slopes of Volcan Santa Ana, at elevations of 1400-1700masl, epitomize micro-lot specialty coffee production. Aida takes great pride in her coffee, and has a careful hand in every step of the process. This care and commitment comes through in the quality of the cup, especially true now that you can taste all three farms side-by-side!

Here in the roastery, we cupped these three coffees this morning, and they are delicious! Very different in profile, the Finca Mauritania is sweet and balanced, like a slice of butter and jam toast. The Finca Los Alpes is like curling up with a mug of mulled winter citrus while snacking on caramels and sweet persimmons. And the Finca Kilimanjaro is all super sweet berries, hibiscus tea, and meyer lemon.
